Well, you know… in PC we have the HOME key thats better than a key combination ;)

Many of your points are or incorrect or just showing plain ignorance, you *can* use Emacs style in GNOME, and there is no other desktop environment more inconsistent in their hotkeys than OS X.

Your article is very lame, and you should use VIM or Emacs like a real hacker not TextMate…

This frustrates me too. I have emacs style bindings set in Firefox, and actually it's just made things more confusing even than having to remember two sets of keys, because Ctrl+D to go to the address bar no longer works.

Redcar follows Textmate in going with Emacs style keybindings, at least most of the way (Ctrl+C copy and Ctrl+V paste still exist). I don't believe I have implemented Ctrl+Y for paste yet (mainly because it's not a key I use much on the command line), but you've convinced me that consistency is good.

Perhaps as a defense mechanism: for many years, half their lineup (i.e., all their laptops) had some other key in that position, like Enter. Yeah, I have no clue why you'd want Enter there, either.
